Valencia are the only
Spanish side to be sure of a place in the last 32 despite being held to a 1-1
draw by Club Brugge in the Mestalla stadium. With an important league match
against Barcelona in two days' time, coach Unai Emery put out a line-up packed
with reserves.
They went behind though when
Alcaraz headed in a Vargas free kick late in the first half, and only a good
save by Goitia from Vargas prevented the Belgian side from increasing the lead
after the break. Soon afterwards however Zigic equalised with a header from
Hugo Viana's corner, and the Ches almost won it when Pablo Hernández's
deflected free kick went just wide later on. |
