A packed Sardinero stadium
saw Racing Santander pick up their first point at the league stage, although
they need positive results in their next matches against Paris Saint Germain
and Manchester City if they are to reach the next round.
After their win at Valencia
on Sunday the Cantabrians were in a positive mood, and Jonathan Pereira put
Neuer to the test with only three minutes on the clock. Toño did well to
keep out Engelaar at the other end a few minutes later, but Neuer was in action
again before the break to save a deflected shot from Munitis.
Twelve minutes in to the
second half Racing took the lead, Tchité finishing off from close up
after Pereira's effort was blocked by the keeper. But only five minutes later
the German side equalised, Engelaar beating Toño with an angled shot
from outside of the area. Both sides had chances after that, Navas heading wide
and Farfán going close with a free kick, but in the end they settled for
a draw. |
