Defending champions Spain
were unable to do more than draw 0-0 with Italy in the opening game of the
European Championships.
Ginés
Menéndez's side had the better of the first half, but Borja in
particular was unable to beat the opposite keeper and Sarabia had an effort
cleared off the line by a defender. Edgar also had a couple of saves to make
though from Libertazzi and Beretta.
It was more of the same
after the restart, with Alex and Borja bringing further saves out of Perin, but
in the end they had to settle for a point. The other group game between France
and Switzerland ended 1-1, so there is still all to play for. |
