López Caro's new-look Spain side were thrashed 4-1 by neighbours Portugal in a friendly international. With twenty minutes gone a slip by Balenziaga allowed Rui Fonte to open the scoring. Soon afterwards QPR's Dani Parejo hit the bar, and Adrián's follow up hit the hand of a defender. Parejo converted the resulting penalty, but Orland Sá restored the lead a few minutes later with a header from Pereirinha's corner. And the Sporting Braga striker headed two more either side of half time to complete his hat-trick. (18.11.08)

Spain's under 17 side also played a friendly on Tuesday night, and they were held to a 1-1 draw by Algeria. (18.11.08)
