UEFA Cup, league stage, day two
A week to forget for Spanish
sides in Europe. All four of the Champions League teams failed to win, and on
Thursday it was the turn of the UEFA Cup participants to disappoint. Double
champions Sevilla were beaten 1-0 by Standard Liège, a
Mbokani strike close to half time enough to give the Belgian side the victory.
And Racing Santander were held to a 1-1 draw by Schalke '04,
Tchité's opener with just under an hour gone quickly cancelled out by a
goal from Engelaar. The biggest surprise came later in the evening though,
Valencia only able to draw 1-1 against the modest Copenhagen.
Morientes appeared to have given the Ches the three points until Santín
equalised near the end. (06.11.08) |
