Pre-season fixtures
La Liga took on the Premier
League this weekend, with no less than five Spanish sides facing up against
English opposition. Sevilla drew 1-1 with Arsenal in the Amsterdam Tournament,
and honours were also shared between West Ham United and Villarreal, and
between West Bromwich Albion and Mallorca. Osasuna played two games in just
over 24 hours, drawing 2-2 at Stoke City and beating Hull City 0-1, and
Valencia lost 2-1 to Newcastle in the last minute.
Real Madrid though preferred
to warm up for the upcoming Spanish Supercup against the Ches travelling to
Germany, drawing 1-1 at Eintracht Frankfurt in a match in memory of that epic
1960 European Cup Final which finished 7-3 to Madrid. Puskas got four and Di
Stefano three in that match, but this time the result was a discreet 1-1 draw,
with Robinho getting the only goal for Bernd Schuster's side. (12.08.08)
