First round matches

Villarreal and Zaragoza qualified for the UEFA cup as Spain's fifth and sixth placed sides in the league, and Getafe will also be taking part as runners up to Sevilla in the Spanish cup (Sevilla qualified for the Champions League). All will be trying to qualify for the second round, which will be played in a mini-league format once again this season. The first round draw takes place on 31st August. (01.07.07)

Atlético Madrid will also be playing in the UEFA cup this season after they won through their Intertoto Cup final against Gloria Bistrita and then beat Vojvodina in a qualifying round. And two times champions Sevilla were included in the first round draw pending the outcome of their second leg match with AEK Athens, although they will only play in this competition if they lose that tie (which they didn't).
