A set back for Getafe after
their opening win against Tottenham, the UEFA Cup debutants losing 1-2 to
Hapoel Tel Aviv. Their recent good form together with the fact that their
opponents are currently managerless after dropping to the bottom of their local
league meant that Michael Laudrup's side were over-confident. But with only
five minutes on the clock they fell behind when Badir got behind Cata
Díaz to control a pass from midfield on his chest and beat Ustari.
Getafe pushed forward, with
Casquero, Albín and Granero all failing to find the target. But they
suffered another blow when a seemingly harmless Dego free kick was misjudged by
Ustari, allowing the ball to enter the net. Laudrup brought on two fresh
strikers at the break, but visiting keeper Enyeama was having an inspired night
and kept out efforts from Albín, Sousa, De la Red and Granero. The
spaniards did get one back in the last minute when Pablo Hernández
converted a penalty, but it was too little too late. |
