Whichever way they go,
matches involving Atlético Madrid guarantee goals this season. Javier
Aguirre's side have been scoring and letting in goals almost in equal measure,
and this Thursday they were involved in a thrilling 3-3 draw at Lokomotiv
Moscow. Agüero gave them an early lead before Bilyaletdinov equalised for
the Russians, and the Spaniards could have been in front again by the break,
Agüero being gifted the ball only to shoot at the keeper and Jurado
hitting the bar with a long shot.
Just a minute after the
restart Diego Forlán combined with Agüero to score his side's
second of the night, and Agüero almost extended the lead minutes later.
But shaky defending allowed Odemwingie to trurn the scoreline around with two
goals in three minutes, and the striker almost completed his hat-trick with a
header over the top from a corner soon afterwards. Aguirre resorted to his key
men, Maxi, Luis García and Maniche, to get them out of trouble, and
Maniche tested Pelizzoli with a long shot. And with five minutes to go the ex
Lokomotiv midfielder put through Agüero, who did well to keep his balance
before clipping a shot past the keeper to tie the match. |
