Zaragoza were knocked out of
the competition in the first round on the away goal rule, their 2-1 victory
over Aris Salonica a goal short of what they needed. Oliveira combined with
Diego Milito in the twentieth minute to beat Chalkias and level the tie. And
Milito hit the post in the opening minutes of the second half as the locals
pushed for the winner.
However ex Barcelona
midfielder Javito (one of four Spaniards in the Greek side) got what was to be
the vital away goal with a shot through the legs of César after Sergio
had blocked his first effort. Sergio García headed Víctor
Fernández's side back in front but they could do no more, their best
effort a shot from Luccin which Chalkias did well to turn away for a corner,
and Zaragoza's poor start to the season continues. |
