Villarreal beat BATE Borisov
4-1 in their first leg match to almost certainly ensure a place in the next
round. Nihat opened the scoring in the fifth minute with a well struck free
kick, and Marcos Senna made it two with just over a quarter of an hour gone,
beating Federovich with a long shot. Tomasson and Mati Fernández missed
chances to increase the lead before the break, and Nihat and Tomasson got two
more in the first ten minutes of the second half to wrap things up. After that
though they slackened off, and Diego López had to save a Bliznyuk
penalty which Mavuba gave away before Zhavnerchyk got one back for the Belarus
based side. |
