Atlético Madrid
confirmed their presence in a major European competition for the first time in
seven years after beating Vojvodina 1-2. Three goals up from the first leg,
Javier Aguirre put out a much changed side, with Abbiati and Cléber
making their official debuts. And although they found themselves behind after
Buac took advantage of a sleepy defence shortly before the break, Luis
García got an important away goal just ten minutes after the restart.
His namesake Raúl García got a second after Jurado set him up
twenty minutes later, and Abbiati ensured the victory when he saved
Despotovic's penalty which the keeper himself had given away late
on. |
