Spain wasted a chance to tie
up a place in the semi-finals after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Portugal in
their second group fixture. Juan Santiesteban's side dominated the match, and
took the lead early in the second half when Aarón converted a penalty
after the Valencia striker had been brought down in the area. But Aarón
and his colleagues missed a couple of opportunities to wrap things up, and
their opponents saved a point when Carriço headed home a Santos corner
with twenty minutes to go. Spain only need to draw their last game against
Greece though to go through. |
