Second division - day 24
Numancia are back on
top after a 0-3 win at Xerez on Sunday evening. Jordà headed them
into the lead shortly before the break, and Del Pino and Carmelo added two more
later on after their opponents had had two men sent off. Earlier in the day
Elche moved up into third spot after beating last weekend's incumbents
Sporting Gijón 3-1. Cobo's early penalty was cancelled out by a
strike from Barral soon afterwards, but Raúl Martín restored the
lead midway through the first half and José Vega wrapped things up with
a second penalty near the end.
Real Sociedad are
just a point outside of the top three after a 0-1 victory at Poli Ejido.
The Basque side dominated the first half, but couldn't beat Alvaro Iglesias
until the hour mark, when Díaz de Cerio scored after new signing
Víctor set him up. Celta lost ground on the leading group though
after losing 2-1 at Eibar. Diego Costa gave the Galicians an early lead,
but goals in the second half from Goiria and Altuna turned the scoreline
around.
Elsewhere Tenerife
moved up to ninth after a 2-0 victory over Granada 74. Oscar
Pérez and Nino got the goals at the end of the first and second halves.
Salamanca and Cádiz remain in mid-table after drawing 1-1,
A first goal by Bangoura for the Andalusians was cancelled out by a last minute
header from David Rodríguez. And Albacete and
Hércules also drew 1-1, a result which takes the Manchegans out
of the bottom four to the detriment of Nàstic. Both goals came from the
penalty spot in the first half, Farinós putting the locals ahead and
Barkero equalising for the visitors. (10.02.08)
Leaders Málaga
lost 2-1 to Córdoba on Saturday evening, their first defeat in
ten games. Cheli put them ahead on the stroke of half time, and although
Arthuro equalised three minutes in to the second half, Pablo Ruíz headed
the winner later on. Castellón moved up to third pending Sunday's
games after beating Gimnàstic 3-1, their fifth win in a row under
new coach Pepe Murcia. López Garay headed them into an early lead and
Tabares got two more after the restart, with Calle getting one back in between.
Down at the bottom, Las
Palmas stayed clear of the relegation spots after a 2-2 draw with Racing
Ferrol. Marcos Márquez opened the scoring in the first minute, but
Pereira and Medina put the Galicians ahead less than ten minutes later.
Cristian equalised for the Canary Islanders late on. Alavés also
moved away from the danger zone with a late 1-0 win over Sevilla
Atlético. Toni Moral beat Javi Varas with an injury time free kick
to take the three points. (09.02.08) |
