Spain won their friendly match against France by a goal to nil, although it will probably be remembered more for the accident prone nature of the fixture than anything else. Arbeloa and Silva had already pulled out of the squad due to injuries, 17 year old Bojan was unable to make his debut after suffering a bout of gastric enteritis, and Fernando Torres and Angel both had to leave the field injured.

Chances were few and far between before Capdevila finally scored what was to be the winner, forcing the ball into the net after Diarra had headed a shot from Iniesta off the line with ten minutes to go. France could have equalised after that though, Benzema heading against the bar and Henry missing a couple of good chances in injury time. (06.02.08)
