Second division - day 21
Numancia are the
second division winter champions at the half-way stage of the competition after
winning 1-2 at Poli Ejido. Carmelo and Quero got the goals to take them
a point above Málaga, who were held to a 1-1 draw at
Tenerife. Baha gave the Andalusians an early lead, but Nino equalised
soon afterwards. Earlier in the day Sporting Gijón held on to
third spot with a 0-3 victory at Eibar, Barral and Bilic getting two in
three minutes in the second half after Diego Castro's second minute opener.
They remain a point ahead of Real Sociedad, who won 1-3 at
Córdoba with two from Díaz de Cerío after the
interval.
Elche drop down to
sixth though after a surprise 2-4 defeat at the hands of struggling
Xerez. The result takes the Andalusians off the bottom of the table
above Racing Ferrol, who have now gone 15 games without a win after a
1-0 defeat against Castellón. Gimnastic stay out of the
bottom four after picking up a point in a 1-1 draw at Salamanca, and
Hércules beat Cádiz 1-2, their first victory in six
games. (20.01.08)
Three games on Saturday,
with Celta moving up to fourth in the table after a last minute 2-3 win
over Alavés. Goals from Diego Costa and Jorge were twice
cancelled out by replies from Aganzo (who also missed a penalty) and Gabri, but
Jesús Perera got the winner right at the end. Sevilla
Atlético are level with Celta on points after drawing 1-1 at
Granada 74, Alfaro giving the youngsters a fourth minute lead before
Javi Guerra equalised later in the first half. Elsewhere Las Palmas
climbed out of the relegation zone to the detriment of Albacete after
beating the Manchegans 2-1, new signing Cristian Fernández heading the
winner after Barkero had equalised Sergio Suárez's opening goal.
