Second division - day 16
Numancia moved above
Málaga to the top of the table after a 1-0 win over Salamanca on
Sunday evening. A first half goal from Del Pino was enough to take them a point
above the Andalusians. Sporting Gijón stay third despite losing
0-1 to Tenerife, Pablo Sicilia getting the only goal after the break.
Celta are just two points behind the Asturians though in fifth spot
after coming from a goal down with ten men to beat Sevilla
Atlético 2-1.
The three other games in the
second division all ended without goals. Herculés were unable to
do more than draw 0-0 at Poli Ejido, despite missing two penalties and
playing against nine men after the locals had two players sent off. And the
matches between Real Sociedad and Cádiz, and Xerez
and Córdoba, also ended 0-0. (09.12.07)
Málaga stay
top of the table, at least for the next 24 hours, after drawing 1-1 at
Gimnàstic. Substitute Salva appeared to have given them the
victory when he headed over Roberto with a quarter of an hour to go, but a late
volley from Oscar Arpón saved a point for the Catalans. Meanwhile
Elche moved up to fourth pending Sunday's games after beating
Castellón 1-0. Raúl Martín got the only goal in the
first half against the East coast side, who ended the game with ten men.
Granada 74 are fifth
after a 1-3 win at Racing Ferrol, their fourth victory in a row. Medina
opened the scoring for the locals but two from Luque after the restart, and an
Aranda penalty in between, left the Galicians on the brink of the drop zone.
Albacete sank further down in the relegation spots after losing 0-3 to
Alavés, the visitors getting all their goals in the last quarter
of an hour of the match. And bottom club Las Palmas are now level on
points with Albacete after a last minute 1-0 win over Eibar. (08.12.07)
