Second division - day 14
Real Sociedad set
aside their institutional problems for a couple of hours, beating leaders
Málaga 2-0 to move up to eighth in the table. Aranburu opened the
scoring in the tenth minute and Carlos Martínez added the second later
on. Málaga stay top though after Numancia lost 0-2 to Granada
74. Luque and Fagoaga got the goals to hand the Soria based side their
second home defeat in a row. Sporting Gijón took advantage to
move into second place, ahead of their rivals on goal difference, after a 4-2
win over Cádiz. Kike Mateo scored twice and Moran and Castro got
the rest to leave the Andalusians on the brink of the drop zone.
Sevilla
Atlético held on to fourth spot after drawing 1-1 at Racing
Ferrol, Juan Pablo equalising Pereira's early goal from the penalty spot on
the quarter hour mark. Celta are in sixth place after a similar result
against Gimnàstic, Rubén scrambling home a last minute
leveller for the ten man Galicians after Calle had put the visitors in front in
the first half. And Hércules are up to seventh after a 0-3 win at
Eibar, César, Juanma and Cámara on the scoresheet for
Andoni Goikoetxea's side.
Down at the bottom, Poli
Ejido are on the verge of escaping the drop zone after a fourth minute
strike from Toedtli helped them to a 1-0 win over Castellón. Only
two points separate them from their opponents, who ended the weekend four
places above them in the table. Xerez are three points away from safety
though after drawing 1-1 with Salamanca, and Albacete stay in
next to bottom spot after they drew 0-0 with Tenerife. (25.11.07)
Only two games on Saturday
evening in the second division, with none of the top ranked sides involved.
Bottom club Las Palmas recorded only their second victory of the season,
beating Córdoba 3-1 to move level with Albacete on points.
Adrián scored two, including a penalty, and Nacho Casanova made it three
before Arthuro got a late consolation in the last minute. Meanwhile
Alavés inched away from the danger zone after drawing 2-2 at
Elche, although they felt unlucky not to come away with more after twice
taking the lead, Pere Martí saving a point for the locals with five
minutes to go. (24.11.07) |
