Euro 2008 qualifier
Spain 3 - Sweden 0
Spain have qualified
for the Euro 2008 finals with one match still to go after beating Sweden
3-0. Capdevila gave Luis Aragonés's side an early lead when he turned
the ball past Isaksson after Cesc headed on Xavi's corner, and Villa hit the
post with a free kick before Iniesta latched on to Capdevila's pass to score
his team's second shortly before half time. The Scandinavian side hardly
troubled Casillas all night, and Sergio Ramos wrapped things up midway through
the second half, firing the ball back in to the net on the follow up after
Wilhelmsson blocked Capdevila's shot after another Xavi corner. The win takes
Spain above their opponents to the top of group F, and they can now take on
Northern Ireland in Las Palmas next Wednesday knowing that their place in
Austria / Switzerland is assured. (17.11.07) |
