Second division - day 12
Málaga are
back at the top of the second division after beating third placed Sporting
Gijón 0-1 on Sunday lunchtime. Baha turned in Hidalgo's cross midway
through the first half to give the Andalusians the three points. Sporting drop
out of the top three after Sevilla Atlético beat second placed
Numancia 0-1 later in the day. Salva Sevilla got the only goal with a
quarter of an hour to go to take the youngsters up into the promotion spots for
the first time. Elche are only two points behind them though after a 3-1
win over Tenerife, Luna, Víctor and Belvis putting David Vidal's
side three up before N'Diaye's late consolation.
All eyes were on the game
between Real Sociedad and Celta, where honours were shared in a
1-1 draw which leaves both clubs in mid-table. The Galicians were the happier
of the two though after keeper Pinto was sent off in the second minute, with
Jorge cancelling out Víctor López's earlier goal. Two other
pre-season promotion favourites Albacete and Cádiz are
even worse off, although Cádiz climb away from the danger zone after a
0-1 victory in the Carlos Belmonte stadium. Albacete however drop to next to
bottom after the two teams below them both won, Xerez's new coach Casuco
getting off to a good start with a 2-1 victory over Granada 74, and
Poli Ejido's old coach Luis César earning himself a respite after
his side beat Alavés 1-0. (11.11.07)
Four matches in the second
division on Saturday, although none involved the top sides.
Gimnàstic beat Racing Ferrol 0-2 to move above the
Galicians to seventh, with Oscar Arpón and Miku getting the goals in the
second half. Sixth placed Córdoba missed out on a chance to catch
up with the leaders though after they lost 2-1 to Eibar, Goiria scoring
twice for the Basque side either side of half time before Asen got one back.
Castellón and Hércules stay in the top half of the
table after drawing 0-0, and later in the evening Salamanca moved away
from the danger zone with a 1-2 win against bottom club Las Palmas.
