Second division - day 8
Málaga's
perfect record came to an end when they were beaten 2-0 by Elche on
Sunday evening. Goals either side of half time by Fajardo and Miguel were
enough to end the Andalusians' run of seven wins in a row and take David
Vidal's side up to fifth. Earlier in the evening third placed Sporting
Gijón were held to a 0-0 draw by Racing Ferrol, who
themselves drop down to fifth. Eibar are just a point behind them though
after a 2-0 win over Granada 74, Altuna and Del Olmo getting the goals
in the second half.
Xerez and
Gimnàstic drew 2-2 in a game with three penalties, the first to
the locals in the opening minutes scored by Yordi after visiting keeper Roberto
was sent off. A Campano penalty and a De Carlos strike turned the scoreline
around, but Nàstic were left with nine men when Oscar picked up a second
booking, and De Carlos gave away a third penalty a couple of minutes later
which Michel converted. The other two games on Sunday finished all square as
well, Castellón and Tenerife drawing 1-1 and the match
between Córdoba and Salamanca ending with the same
scoreline. (14.10.07)
Numancia moved up to
second pending Sunday's games after a last minute 2-1 win over Real
Sociedad. The game appeared to be heading for a draw after Díaz de
Cerio had equalised Nagore's early goal, but Carmelo got the winner in injury
time. Hércules missed out on a chance to close up on the
promotion spots after they were beaten 2-1 by Alavés. Aganzo got
both goals for the Vitoria based side, the second from the penalty spot two
minutes from the end after César had levelled the scores a few minutes
earlier.
Two managers took over their
new charges this week, but neither were able to win. López Caro replaced
Hristo Stoichkov at Celta midweek, but his side could only draw 1-1 at
bottom club Albacete. And B team coach Antonio Calderón took over
from García Remón at Cádiz, but they were beaten
1-0 by Poli Ejido. Poli move out of the relegation zone as a result,
level with their opponents in the table. Later in the evening Sevilla
Atlético moved up to fourth after a 0-1 victory at Las
Palmas. (13.10.07) |
