Spain finished top of their qualifying group after drawing 1-1 with Argentina. With qualification for the last 16 already guaranteed Juan Santiestaban rested his key players, and his side fell behind when Benítez beat De Gea with a shot on the turn on the half hour mark. Iago hit the post with a free kick on the stroke of half time though, and Dani Aquino missed a couple of chances before the Murcia striker headed home the equaliser from Isma's cross midway through the second half.
