Spanish Super Cup, second leg
Real Madrid 3 - Sevilla 5
An extraordinary match at
the Bernabeu stadium, with Sevilla winning the Spanish Super Cup for the
first time after beating Real Madrid 3-5. Building on a one goal first
leg lead, Juande Ramos's side were never behind on the night. Renato put the
Andalusians ahead early on, and although Drenthe equalised with an impressive
strike, the Brazilian midfielder restored the lead with his second of the night
on the half hour mark. Kanouté made it three from the penalty spot after
Pepe handled in the area, but Cannavaro headed another back on the stroke of
half time and Sergio Ramos made it all square with another header later in the
second half. But Kanouté took advantage of slack defending to complete
his hat-trick in the last ten minutes, and Madrid ended with ten men after Pepe
was sent off for a second bookable offence. (19.08.07) |
