Pre-season fixtures

More tournaments in the last few days, including Cádiz's Ramón de Carranza trophy which was won by Betis, who beat Real Madrid in the semi-final and Zaragoza in the final. Elsewhere Valencia lost their Orange Trophy 0-2 to Parma, and Atlético won by the same score against neighbours Getafe. The fixtures this summer cannot really be described as friendlies any more though, with no less than three games between Dutch and Spanish sides (Breda v Getafe, Vitesse v Athletic and Groningen v Mallorca) ending early due to brawls between the players, and two sent off in Espanyol's bad tempered match at Coventry.
