Atlético Madrid qualified for a major European competition for the first time in seven years after winning through their Intertoto Cup final on the away goal rule. After a defeat in Romania last week, Javier Aguirre asked Kun Agüero and Diego Forlán to delay their holidays to play in the return leg, and the move paid off when Forlán got on the end of a poor clearance to open the scoring in the eleventh minute. Agüero went close and Maniche hit the post before the break, but there were some nervous moments in the second half before the referee blew the final whistle. (28.07.07)
