Under 19 European Championship, semi-final
Spain 0 - France 0 (4-2 penalty shoot out)
Defending champions
Spain made it through to the final once again after beating
France in a penalty shoot out. Aarón hit the crossbar and Nsue
fired the follow up straight at the keeper early on, and Aarón had a
goal ruled out in the second half for a borderline offside. France's only real
reply was an effort by Monnet-Paquet soon after the restart which Felipe Ramos
kept out, but the Real Madrid keeper limped off soon afterwards after spraining
an ankle. Valladolid's Sergio Asenjo came on to replace him though, and he was
to prove the hero in the end, saving two penalty kicks after extra time had
ended without goals. Spain's opponents in the final next Friday will be Greece,
who they drew with earlier in their group game. (24.07.07) |
