Barcelona are on target for
a place in the last 16 after drawing 0-0 at Rangers. Frank Rijkaard's side had
most of the possession, but they were unable to break through a well
disciplined defence. Messi had a shot cleared off the line by ex Osasuna
defender Cuéllar early on, Ronaldinho saw his free kick tipped on to the
bar by McGregor, and Puyol almost sneaked a header past the keeper close to
half time. And Ronaldinho felt he should have had penalty when a defender
blocked his shot with his arm before the break, and Henry headed over soon
after the restart.
But gradually they ran out
of steam, and Rangers started to believe they could get more than a draw from
the match. Ferguson and Novo both failed to get on the end of Cousin's cross,
McCullough fired a shot over, and Cousin drove another effort just wide of the
far post. But in the end both sides settled for a draw, which leaves them tied
on seven points, four points clear of neatest rivals Lyon. The rematch is at
the Nou Camp in two weeks time. |
