Defending champions Sevilla
came from a goal down to beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-1, leaving the tie evenly
balanced for next week's second leg. Robbie Keane put the English side ahead in
only the second minute, picking up a pass from Berbatov and beating Palop at
the second attempt. But Luxembourg referee Alain Hamer awarded a hotly disputed
penalty after Adriano fell under a challenge from Robinson, and Kanouté
stepped up to equalise against his old side.
Ten minutes before the break
Sevilla went ahead, Kerzakhov finishing off after Escudé headed across.
Kanouté could have added to the scoreline after the restart, and Adriano
also went close. But after a long season the hosts started to tire, and
Berbatov, Zakora and Malbranque all wasted late chances to take a draw back to
White Hart Lane. |
