Osasuna beat Glasgow Rangers
1-0 to make it through to the quarter finals of a European competition for the
first time in their history. With survival in the first division more of a
priority, Cuco Ziganda put out a weakened line up, with 17 year old
César Azpilicueta becoming the youngest player from the club to play in
Europe. But even so they had the better of the first half, with Romeo,
Azpilicueta and Webó all trying their luck before the break.
The Navarra based side were
unlucky not to be awarded a penalty when the ball hit Murray on the arm soon
after the restart, but twenty minutes from the end Webó connected with a
David López to fire in a shot which went in off keeper McGregor. A goal
from the Scottish side would have taken the game into extra time after the 1-1
draw in the first leg, but only Nacho Novo caused any problems for Ricardo, who
kept his sixth clean sheet in Europe this season. |
