Nekounam. Got on the end of Corrales cross to head past Ramé.
A last gasp winner from
Nekounam in the final minute of extra time against a battling Girondins
Bordeaux was just enough to take Osasuna into the next round. A big crowd
turned up to see the Navarrans dominate the early minutes, with Cruchaga
heading the best chance over the bar from Puñal's free kick. Things
quietened down though until Soldado had a penalty appeal turned down close to
the break, and play went straight up the other end where Ricardo had to make a
good save from Perea.
Perea could have wrapped
things up early in the second half when he shot against the post, and Alonso
and Wendel also tried their luck with long shots for the visitors. Puñal
tested Ramé with a free kick, but the game went into extra time, where
another Puñal free kick brought another good save out of the French
keeper.
It looked as if penalties
were on the cards though until the last minute, when Nekounam got on the end of
a Corrales cross to head what was the only goal in 210 minutes of football. The
crowd went wild, and Osasuna are through to meet Rangers in a couple of weeks'
time. |
