Celta beat Spartak Moscow
2-1 to go through to the last 16 of the UEFA cup. Building on the 1-1 draw from
the first leg, Nené missed a good chance before picking up a touch on by
Nuñez to cut in and chip over the keeper to open the scoring.
Nuñez and Pablo García both went close a few minutes later, with
Pavlyuchenko replying for the Russians before the break.
Esteban had to be at his
best to keep out Kovac after the restart, but with just under a quarter of an
hour remaining Jonathan Aspas unleashed a long shot which keeper Khomich
watched fly in to his net. A late goal by Titov gave the fans a scare though,
and one more for the visitors would have taken the visitors through on the away
goal rule. It was not to be though, and Celta will now meet Werder Bremen in
the next round. |
