Osasuna kept their hopes of
qualifying for the next round alive after a 3-1 win over Odense, Puñal
scoring a strange "hat-trick", two for his own side and one for the opponents.
The Danish side almost caught out the Spaniards early on, with Bechara going
close in an incident which left keeper Ricardo with a bad cut on the cheek. But
Nekounam shot just wide at the other end, and with just under half an hour on
the clock Puñal put his side ahead with a spectacular volley after David
López's corner was only partly cleared.
Twenty minutes in to the
second half Puñal made it two with a shot which took a slight deflection
off Hansen, but seven minutes later the midfielder was in the wrong place at
the wrong time to deflect Borre's cross past his own keeper. David López
hit the post though and Soldado missed another chance as the locals looked to
increase the lead, and Romeo did get the third near the end after a shot from
David López was blocked. Osasuna move up to third, level on points with
their opponents and with Lens, and a draw in Palma in a fortnight's time will
see them through. |
