Defending champions Sevilla
had no problems seeing off Atromitos, their 4-1 win adding to the 1-2 result
from the first leg. With the game not televised, a 40,000 crowd turned up, and
the players all came out wearing the number 4 shirt in support of their ex
player Darío Silva, who lost a leg a couple of days ago in a car
accident.
Any doubts the fans had were
dissipated in the first ten minutes after the Greek side put through their own
net twice, Apostolopoulos and Ioannoy turning crosses from Luis Fabiano and
David past their own keeper. And when Apostolopoulos couldn't prevent a shot
from Luis Fabiano from entering the net on the half hour mark, Juande Ramos
already decided to give Jesús Navas a rest and put on Jesuli.
Duda and Kepa could both
have increased the lead before the break as the Andalusians continued to
dominate, but they slackened off after the restart with the game already in the
bag. Even so Kepa was able to score a fourth near the end, controlling Luis
Fabiano's cross on his chest before beating Michalidis. Sevilla are back on the
trail! |
