Spain beat Zambia 2-1 in
their second game to top their group ahead of Uruguay and virtually ensure a
place in the last sixteen. It was a hard fought win though, and Adán had
some work to do against a physically stronger side before Gines
Meléndez's side were awarded a dubious penalty, Mario Suárez
converting the kick after he himself had fallen under a lunging challenge from
Nyambe.
Mata appeared to have given
his side the three points with an impressive first time volley from Diego
Capel's lifted cross shortly before the break. But Njobvu shrugged off a couple
of markers to pull one back with a quarter of an hour to go, and there were
some nervous moments before the final whistle, especially when Mulenga went
close with an acrobatic kick late on. |
