Halden, Norway. Spain won
their opening match of their qualifying group, although they made hard work at
first of beating a physical Iceland side who took the lead midway through the
first half through Fridgeirssonn following a corner. Real Madrid Castilla's
Adrián González (son of coach Michel) equalised just three
minutes after the restart after his Madrid team mate Bueno set him up, but it
was not until twenty minutes from the end that another of the Castilla
youngsters Mata picked up a pass from Valencia's Aarón to beat Jonasson.
Mata appeared to have wrapped things up from the penalty spot after
Aarón was brought down, but although Gislason and Halldorsson were both
sent off, Vidarsson converted a second penalty in injury time to set up a nail
biting finish. |
