Copa del Rey, semi-finals, second leg
A historic victory for
Getafe, who overcame a three leg deficit from the first leg to beat
Barcelona 4-0 and qualify for the Spanish cup final for the first time
ever. Nobody gave Bernd Schuster's side a chance, but by half time they had
pulled two back with strikes from Casquero and Güiza. Jorquera had to make
a couple of saves from Güiza after the restart before Vivar Dorado headed
home Contra's free kick. And Güiza rounded off an epic night with a fourth
goal a few minutes later. (10.05.07)
Getafe's opponents will be
Sevilla, who added to their three goal first leg lead with a comfortable
2-0 win over Deportivo the night before. With only two minutes on the
clock Duda put the Andalusians ahead with a well struck free kick, and
Chevantón put the tie well beyond the Galicians' reach with a second
goal later in the first half. Sevilla now have a chance of tying up the triple
after reaching the final of the UEFA cup and keeping in the running for the
league title. (09.05.07) |
