Youth internationals
Spain's under 17 side
beat Ukraine 3-1 in their second group match to virtually qualify for
the semi-finals. Camacho headed the youngsters into the lead from Ximo's free
kick in the first half, and Falqué and Aquino added two more later on
before Shevchuk's injury time consolation. (04.05.07)
Spain's under 17 side
kicked off the European finals with a 2-0 victory over France.
Barcelona's Iago Falqué put Juan Santiesteban's side ahead with a long
shot in the twentieth minute, and Arsenal's Fran Mérida added the second
later in the second half after picking up a pass from Murcia's Dani Aquino.

Some of Spain's other youth
sides have been in action in recent days as well. The under 21 team and
the under 20 team played each other in a training match which served as
a warm up for their forthcoming commitments. The under 21s will be starting
next season's European qualifying matches next month, and the under 20s will be
taking part in the Youth World Cup in Canada this summer.
Elsewhere the under 16
side played a friendly against England in the new Wembley stadium, a
match which served to test the facilities once more prior to it's official
inauguration. (02.05.07) |
