UEFA Cup, quarter finals, first leg
All three Spanish sides won
their opening games in the quarter finals tonight. Osasuna are already
virtually through to the semi-finals after beating Bayer Leverkusen 0-3.
Cuéllar headed them into a first minute lead, and two goals in as many
minutes from David López and Webó midway through the second half
wrapped things up.
Sevilla came from a
goal down to beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-1, leaving the tie evenly balanced
for next week's second leg. Robbie Keane put the English side ahead in only the
second minute, but a hotly disputed Kanouté penalty and a header from
Kerzhakov turned the scoreline around before the break.
Espanyol also have
some work to do after a 3-2 win over Benfica. Tamudo opened the scoring
early on and Nelson headed a shot from Riera into his own net soon afterwards,
and when Pandiani made it three with just under an hour gone it appeared to be
all over. But Nuno Gomes and Simao got two back later in the second half to
give the Portuguese side an even chance of going through. (05.04.07)
