Second division - day 29
Valladolid set a new
second division record of 23 games without defeat after beating
Ponferradina 1-0 on Sunday evening. They struggled a bit though before
Víctor got the winner from the penalty spot after the break. Earlier in
the day Real Murcia consolidate their position in the top three with a
1-2 win at fourth placed Numancia. Iván Alonso and Pedro
León put them two up either side of half time before Fukuda got one
back. The top three have opened up an eight point gap over three clubs,
including Xerez, who came from behind to beat Elche 2-1 with late
strikes from Moreno and Ríos.
Cádiz are
level with Xerez and Numancia on 44 points after drawing 1-1 at
Alavés, an Aloisi own goal saving a point after Ogbeche had given
the Vitoria based side the lead midway through the second half.
Salamanca are just a point behind them after beating struggling
Lorca 2-1, and Poli Ejido are one further back after a 4-1 win
over a disappointing Málaga. The Andalusians are now just a point
above the drop zone after having only picked up two points in their last six
games, a result made worse by the fact that Tenerife drew 1-1 at
Sporting Gijón to move three points clear of them in the table.

Four matches on Saturday in
the second division, three of which ended all square. Second placed
Almería drew 1-1 at Albacete, a Peña own goal
giving them the lead before Buades equalised twenty minutes from the end.
Ciudad Murcia were held 0-0 by Castilla, even though the Real
Madrid B side had Sergio Sánchez sent off in the eighth minute. And
Hércules and Castellón drew 2-2 in their regional
derby, a result which leaves the visitors still in the relegation spots. The
only side to win were Las Palmas, a 3-1 victory over Gran Canaria
neighbours Vecindario taking them away from the danger zone. (17.03.07)
