Second division - day 25
Valladolid came back
from two down to beat Poli Ejido 2-3 and extend their lead at the top of
the table. Arano and Ortíz had put the locals ahead at the break, but
Alvaro Rubio pulled one back, and Víctor added two more, including a
last minute penalty, to give his side the three points. Later in the evening
Real Murcia consolidated second spot with a 0-1 victory at
Castellón, Antoñito getting the only goal a quarter of an
hour from the end. And Numancia moved up to fourth after beating
Málaga 2-0, Fukuda opening the scoring and Moreno wrapping things
up in the last minute.
Salamanca finally got
their first win in 2007, an early strike from Arpón giving them a 1-0
victory over Xerez. Alavés kept their slim hopes of
promotion alive though with a 5-1 win over bottom club Vecindario, with
four goals coming in the last half hour. Elsewhere Sporting Gijón
and Elche drew 0-0, and there was a goal-less draw as well between
Las Palmas and Ponferradina, a result which just kept the Canary
Islanders out of the relegation spots. (18.02.07)
It has been carnival week in
Spain, and there was a festival atmosphere as fourth placed Cádiz
took on third placed Almería. And in the end honours were shared
in an exciting 2-2 draw, Ortíz twice levelling the scores after Buades
and then Pablo Hernández had put the locals ahead. Ciudad Murcia
moved up level with Cádiz on points after beating neighbours
Lorca 2-1, Goitom scoring twice before Maikel got one back for the
visitors. Hércules are just three points behind them both though
after recovering from a goal down to beat Tenerife 3-1, Piti and
Moisés getting two in the last five minutes to secure the victory, and
Albacete's come back continued with a 1-0 win over Castilla,
Biagini heading the only goal six minutes from the end. (17.02.07)
