Second division, day 12
Xerez moved three
points clear at the top of the table after a 0-2 win in Tenerife.
Camuñas opened the scoring in the third minute and Raúl Medina
wrapped things up in the last minute, although the Canary Islanders hit the
woodwork three times in between. Valladolid squeezed past Salamanca in
to third spot after a 1-2 win over bottom club Vecindario. Medilibar's
side recovered from a goal down to make it six wins in a row, including their
double cup victory against Nàstic in the last few days. Sporting
Gijón are just two points behind them though after a 0-3 win at
Castellón, a result which leaves the home side down in the
relegation spots.
Earlier in the day
Alavés and Albacete cancelled each other out in a 1-1
draw, both goals coming from the penalty spot. Málaga could do no
more than draw by the same result at home to struggling Ponferradina,
Risso saving an important point for the visitors after Chengue Morales had
given the hosts the lead. And Almería made it five home wins in a
row with a 3-1 victory over Ciudad Murcia, taking them up to the top
half of the table level on points with their opponents. (12.11.06)
Joint leaders Real Murcia
were surprisingly beaten 0-1 by Poli Ejido on Saturday evening.
Víctor Salas got the only goal in the second half to take his side up to
fourth and spoil the celebrations in what was Murcia's last game at home before
moving to their new stadium. Third placed Salamanca were unable to catch
them though after being held to a 1-1 draw by struggling Elche. Quique
Martín had given the visitors the lead from the penalty spot, but
Alfredo equalised before half time.
Hércules
continued their good run under new manager Josu Uribe with a 2-0 victory over
Numancia, Moisés and Montenegro getting the goals, and they move
up in to the top half of the table. Cádiz's new coach José
González had a disappointing start though as his side could only draw
0-0 at home to Las Palmas. The Canary Islanders are just a point away
from getting out of the relegation spots, although they have been outdistanced
by Castilla, who beat ten man Lorca 2-0 with late strikes from
Mata and Negredo. (11.11.06) |
