Xerez hold on to top
spot despite being held to a 1-1 draw by Valladolid on Sunday lunchtime.
Camuñas gave the Andalusians an early lead, but De la Cuesta saved a
point for the visitors late on. Albacete took advantage to move to
within a point of Pepe Murcía's side with a 3-2 victory over
Vecindario later in the day. Goals from Cámara, Biagini and
Bakero gave them the three points after falling behind early on. And
Málaga moved back up to fourth after a 1-3 win at Sporting
Gijón, Salva, Silva and Calleja scoring after Congo had put the
Asturians ahead.
Elsewhere Castilla
made it two wins in a row after beating Numancia 0-1 with a first half
strike from Mata. The other four games though ended all square, with Las
Palmas throwing away a two goal lead to draw 2-2 with ten man Elche,
and the matches Ciudad Murcia versus Ponferradina, Poli Ejido
versus Lorca, and Castellón versus
Almería all ended with 1-1 scorelines. (24.09.06)
Real Murcia moved up
to second place pending Sunday's matches after beating Hércules
0-1 on Saturday evening. Pedro León got the only goal midway through the
first half to give Lucas Alcaraz's side their first away win in almost a year.
Alavés were unable to repeat their midweek cup victory over
Tenerife, the Canary islanders holding them to a 0-0 draw in the
Mendizorroza stadium. And Cádiz lost touch with the leaders after
falling to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Salamanca, Braulio getting both
goals as the newly promoted team moved up above their opponents to fourth.
