UEFA Cup, first round, first leg
An excellent start for the
Spanish sides taking part in the competition. Although all four played their
first legs away from home, none of them were defeated. Defending champions
Sevilla beat Atromitos in Greece, Kepa and Duda getting the goals
in the first half before Korakakis got one back for the hosts. Celta
also won their first leg, a Gustavo López strike shortly before the
break giving them a 0-1 win at Standard Liege.
Osasuna drew 2-2
behind closed doors against Trabzonspor, Valdo giving them an early lead
and Juanlu adding a second despite the sending off of Izquierdo a few minutes
before. However Karadeniz got one back and Bulut made it all square just two
minutes from the end. A 2-2 draw for Espanyol as well at Artmedia
thanks to a second half equaliser from Pandiani. Riera had put Valverde's side
ahead, but goals from Halenar and Tchur turned the scoreline around before the
interval. (14.09.06) |
