World Cup, group stage, day 2
Spain 3 - Tunisia 1
Spain recovered from
a goal down to beat Tunisia 3-1 and qualify for the knock out stage.
Luis Aragonés's side went behind in only the eighth minute when Mnari
beat Casillas at the second attempt, and the North Africans held off their
opponents until twenty minutes before the end of the game. The coach's second
half substitutions paid off in the end though, Raúl poking the ball past
Bounmijel to equalise after Cesc had connected with Joaquín's cross to
force the keeper to save. Six minutes later Cesc sent Fernando Torres away for
him to round the advancing keeper and turn the ball in to the net, and the
Atlético Madrid striker found himself all alone as the competition's top
scorer after converting a last minute penalty after Yahia fouled him in the
area. The result allows Aragonés to rest some of his key players for
Friday's last group match with Saudi Arabia. (19.06.06) |
