Spain's new look under 21 side got off to a bad start when they were beaten 0-1 by Poland in this friendly match. With the youngsters failing to qualify for this summer's European finals, Iñaki Sáez was trying out a new crop who were looking to reach next year's finals and subsequently the 2008 Olympic games. Many of the previous squad were still young enough to make the line up, but even so they were bettered by a well organized Polish side who got the only goal midway through the first half when a failed clearance by Moyà came back off his own defender, allowing Piszczek to score.
