UEFA Cup, second round, day 4
Sevilla ensured their
place in the third round with a 3-1 win over Vitoria Guimaraes on
Thursday evening. The Andalusians had the game wrapped up with three goals
before the break, Saviola opening the scoring early on after Adriano set him
up. The Argentine striker helped himself to a second a few minutes later, and
Adriano made it three before Benachour pulled one pack for the Portuguese side
on the stroke of half time. Juande Ramos's side will travel to Bolton in two
weeks' time needing a draw to top their group. (01.12.05)
Espanyol are a point
away from reaching the third round of the competition after drawing 1-1 at
Broendby. Tamudo put the Catalans ahead after Luis García set him
up in the second half, but Skoubo headed the equaliser later on, and Fredson
and Johanssen were both sent off towards the end in what was a bad tempered
match. Lotina's side only need to draw now at home against Petach Tikva in a
fortnight's time to ensure a place in the top three of their group.
