Second division, day 12
Xerez returned to the
top of the table after a 3-0 win over Lorca on Sunday evening. The
Andalusian side had been overtaken by Recreativo the day before, but a second
half hat-trick from Geijo restored their three point lead over their
neighbours. Valladolid move up into the promotion spots two points
behind Recre after a 0-2 win over Ciudad Murcia in the last match of the
weekend, Capdevila and Aduríz getting the goals either side of half
time.
Real Murcia are out
of the top three though after they were beaten 2-0 by Málaga B, a
result which takes the youngsters out of the relegation zone. Casuco's side are
overtaken as well by Almería, who made it in to third spot for a
couple of hours after beating Racing Ferrol 2-1 earlier in the evening.
Levante are level on points with the South East coast side though after
they beat Numancia 0-1 thanks to an early strike from Riga. Ferrol and
Numancia both ended the weekend down in the bottom four.
Geijo wasn't the only player
to score a hat-trick on a high scoring weekend. Sporting Gijón's
Biagini was also on target three times to give his side a 1-3 win at
Tenerife, a bad start for the Canary Islanders' new coach Antonio
López. Roberto Soldado also helped himself to two goals as Real
Madrid Castilla hammered promotion hopefuls Elche 4-0, taking his
side away from the bottom four, and Epitié and Marcos got their names on
the scoresheet as bottom club Castellón came back from a goal
down to beat fellow strugglers Poli Ejido 2-1, only their second win of
the season. (13.11.05)
Although the first division
programme takes a rest due to the international break, there is a full round of
second division matches this weekend. Recreativo Huelva moved to the top
of the table pending Sunday's games despite being held to a 1-1 draw by
Albacete on Saturday evening, Calle saving a point for the Andalusians
with a late penalty after Buades had put the visitors in front.
Hércules missed out on a chance to move up into the top three
after they too could only draw 1-1 at home to Eibar. A goal three
minutes from the end by Quique Mateo cancelled out Azkoitia's earlier strike,
and local keeper Moso saved a penalty just a minute or so later. And
Lleida climbed out of the relegation zone after beating Catalan rivals
Nàstic 0-2, Oscar Rubio and Santos getting the goals to take the
pressure off coach Miguel Rubio. (12.11.05) |
