UEFA Cup, first round, second leg

Sevilla and Espanyol will be in the second round draw after winning their respective second leg matches. Sevilla had a difficult trip to Mainz '05 after a scoreless draw at home in the first leg, but two goals in the first half from Kanouté gave them a 0-2 win. Later in the evening Espanyol beat Teplice 2-0 to go through to the league stage even though they left it late, Fredson scoring the first ten minutes from the end and Jofre coming on to get the second in injury time. Osasuna are out of the competition however after failing to overcome a first leg deficit against Stade Rennes, their 0-0 draw falling well short of what they needed to turn the scoreline around.
