World Cup qualifier
Spain 1 - Serbia Montenegro 1
A disappointing result for
Spain in their World Cup qualifier, their 1-1 draw with Serbia
Montenegro at the Vicente Calderón stadium leaving them two points
behind their rivals in the league table. Raúl headed Luis Aragones's
side into the lead from Xavi's corner in the twentieth minute, and could have
made it two when another header hit the post later in the first half. But
Kezman levelled the scores after the break, and could even have given the East
Europeans a win when he shot wide with the goal at his mercy a few minutes
later. Spain stay a point ahead of Bosnia in second place, but need to win
their last two games at Belgium and San Marino next month to at least ensure a
spot in the play-offs. (07.09.05) |
