Second division, day 1
Numancia top the
table after the first weekend, their 3-0 victory over Almería on
Sunday evening with goals from Navas, Tevenet and Moreno taking them above
Tenerife and Ciudad Murcia. Another of the favourites Valladolid beat
Real Murcia 1-0 thanks to an early strike from Víctor, and a few
hours earlier Elche clocked up their first win against an Eibar
side who are having to build from scratch once again. Lleida join the
teams on three points with a 1-0 victory over newly promoted
Castellón despite playing for half an hour with ten men, and
another of the new boys Hércules could only draw 1-1 against
Málaga B, visiting keeper Javi Muñoz saving a last minute
penalty to earn his side a point. (28.08.05)
With Copa del Rey games due
midweek, no less than six second division matches were brought forward to
Saturday. Tenerife are the early leaders after beating
Nàstic 3-1, and they are joined by Ciudad Murcia who beat
Recreativo by the same scoreline. Relegated Levante got off to a
good start with a 2-0 win over Poli Ejido, but Albacete lost
their opening match 2-0 to Sporting. Real Madrid B (now renamed
Castilla) were beaten 2-1 by Xerez, and another newly promoted side
Lorca picked up a point in a 1-1 draw with Racing Ferrol.
